Welcome

Shotton Woodworks is located in Blue Springs, Missouri. I make handmade rocking chairs, tables and benches. My artistic talent is building beautiful functional furniture pieces from native Missouri hardwoods. I work from the heart and try to evoke an emotional response through my designs. Please visit my shop or contact me, I'd like to marry our ideas and create an heirloom for you.

The Wood I Use

My hardwoods are all from Pike County Missouri, all harvested from natural standing timber, the wood selected for each piece is personally selected because of natural inclusions and character in the wood. This may be where the tree has split then healed leaving amazing character and color in the grain, there may be natural holes. Yes, large holes that give an amazing character that most people cannot resist touching, which is amazing, and is the difference between my works and other craftsman. I look for burn marks in the wood which is usually from a lightning strike, or boards that have been ravished with old worm holes. If you zoom in on any of my pieces you will notice not one chair or table is clear straight perfect wood. That's boring and takes the fun out of creation.
